Michael Bay - Awesome, pussycat

Great commercial. And yes, I would love to get FIOS if it ever becomes available to my place.

Speaking of Michael Bay...

EA bids for Take 2: The Empire Strikes Back

If they succeed in their acquisition of Take Two, EA will retake the #1 publisher position back from Activision Blizzard, take over the most critically game/franchise from last year - Bioshock! - and own/kill Madden's only real competition, NFL2K, and of course, Grand Theft Auto (the game I'm most looking forward to this year). In fact, 2K Sports would be good as dead.

I guess Ubisoft ended being too expensive. Though, I wouldn't count out EA trying to buy Ubisoft later since they already own a substantial amount of Ubi shares.

The Wash Post reports Take Two hasn't posted a profit since 2005 - the year Oblivion shipped! Take Two published Oblivion on PC and Xbox 360.

George Clooney is a fine looking man

Watched first movie off Xbox Live last night. Michael Clayton in HD. It took around 2 hours to download - I bought it and started downloading it Thursday night while we watched Lost (WTF are they doing with Locke?). The picture looked fantastic, didn't see any flaws or artifacts. Looked just as good as any HD-DVD, and definitely better than DVD. Big kudos for convenience. It was a great movie, too.

If I could've bought and downloaded all the other oscar best picture contenders, I would've. My complaints would be that HD movies cost a bit too much (around $5), 24 hours to watch is too short, and the movie selection is pitifully small, especially compared to Apple TV.

What I'm Playing: January/Feburary edition

Poker Smash: This game is addictive. Tetris meets poker. Imagine Tetris but instead of matching blocks and colors, you're matching poker hands.

Madden 2008: Leading up to Super Bowl, I started playing Madden to get my football fix. NCAA is pretty much retired for me for the year. Madden is pretty fun, though I still think I prefer NCAA's gameplay - just feels tighter than Madden. However, Madden does run faster and better than NCAA. Hopefully, those improvements make it into NCAA 2009. (BTW, NCAA Football is coming to Wii later this year - news that I'm sure a Mike Surasky will be happy to hear).

Lost Odyssey: aka, Final Fantasy 7/8/9 for Xbox 360. I'm really enjoying it, will try to finish it. It also has these short stories you can read, and they are surprisingly good. I've read all of them so far. I'm only still on the first disk (out of 5!). Playing it in Japanese with English sub-titles is the way to go. And thank god for the sprint button.

CSI - Hard Evidence: Very easy and linear adventure game so far, but its pretty fun.

Mass Effect: On my second playthrough with a new character. I plan on using this character to play the downloadable content coming soon, too!

Carcassonne: I'm still "trying" to play this. Hard to find someone to play a Ranked match with.

HD DVD is dead. Bummer.

Kinda saw this coming. So my HD-DVD drive for my Xbox 360 is now defunct. Old news. Obsolete. The good news is that it does work great as a DVD player, so we can watch DVDs without having to take the game out of the 360's main drive.

Hmmm, now I want a Playstation 3. I'm hoping there is a price cut later this year, or even better, a redesigned slim PS3.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's...meh, whatever

TELL ME WHEN ITS OVER

We started to watch the 3rd Pirates movie last night. After about an hour, I couldn't take it anymore and turned it off. Megen had fallen asleep already. What an awful, awful movie. I loved the first one. The second one was pretty mediocre, but this one - whew. Maybe someday I'll watch it to completion for the special effects. Maybe.

My favorite Super Bowl commercial

I love this commercial.

I'm not a very good Chinese

For a Chinese man, I suck. I barely speak Chinese. I certainly don't have an accent, so you would never know I was Chinese talking to me on the phone. And I never know when Chinese New Year is.

I have always been good at accepting red envelopes :)

One of the best super bowl games I've ever watched

Fantastic football game last night. I started out rooting for Patriots but in the end, when the Giants came back, man, that was pretty awesome. Thanks to Sarah and Jon for hosting at the compound.

Good Eats updated

I updated my Good Eats list with more restaurants. EN Asian Bistro in Germantown, Stubbs BBQ in Austin, Hard Times Cafe - great chili, Sushi Damo in Rockville Town Center (awesome food, tres expensive - we plan on going back for the Omakase, but need reservations in advance), and Good Fortune - my takeout staple when I lived in the Kentlands.

We have reservations tonight at Bonefish Grill, heard that was a good place, looking forward to it. Since we're both working tomorrow and we have plans Sunday night for the Super Bowl, we're going out tonight for dinner and a movie. With all the wedding stuff going on, 27 Dresses seems appropriate - for your viewing pleasure, here's the Katherine Heigl on the set of the movie.
